SOUTHERN FP-7A and E-8A Passenger power
in Alexandria, Va and Wash DC area
FP-7 's on the ground at Pot yard area behind Crystal City
This happened the last week of April or the first week of May 1972.
I dont remember this accident being reported on TV or in the newspaper.
What I heard at the site was the Southern Units struck a B&O caboose
that hadn't pulled completly into Pot yard. Turns out the B&O caboose
was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, as a Conrail freight
was the culprit.
Thanks to Nick Fry at BORRHS for sending the link below, it fills in
the blanks for the derailment.
The ICC report for this accident is here:

Thanks Nick

Couldn't make out the Number on the unit laying on its side but 6132 was the middle unit
and 6137 was on the other end

Innocent bystander was B&O C3787 and may have been scrapped on site
